A note from the founders
Welcome to CERU, where our family-owned restaurants are inspired by our love of travel and the fresh flavours of Levantine cuisine, decor and culture.
CERU was born from our travels along the eastern Mediterranean — through Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. This historic region is known as Levant, a name that originates from the French for “rising”, due to the sun rising in the East. For thousands of years, it has been the meeting point of Europe, Africa and Asia, and its cooking carries that history. Arab, Turkish, Persian and Mediterranean influences have blended over centuries into something entirely its own. We ate our way through the regions market stalls, family kitchens, roadside grills and long tables, that filled slowly and emptied late.
What stayed with us was not any single dish, but a way of eating — generous, unhurried, meant to be enjoyed together. When we opened CERU, we set out to capture that spirit rather than copy the recipes. Our cooking is a modern interpretation, taking the spice, smoke, citrus and char of the Levant and reworking them into contemporary dishes. These fusion dishes are brought out plate by plate to be enjoyed around the table.
Across our restaurants in Hyde Park, South Kensington and Farringdon, the menus are wide-ranging, with a generous selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free friendly dishes alongside our signature meat plates.
Our wine list is handpicked from the region’s own vineyards with rich reds, crisp whites and juicy rosés, and our craft beers are brewed specially for us. For evenings at home, our Cook at Home meal kits bring the same dishes straight to your kitchen. We have created a place where dining out feels like eating in — a home away from home, surrounded by good food, good drink and good company.
We look forward to welcoming you soon.
Our Ingredients
Eastern Mediterranean region (the Levant) has been a source of enjoyment and inspiration for us for many years as we have discovered new places and cultures , whilst forging new friendships and revisiting old ones. The menu overleaf, is our interpretation of a variety of ingredients or dishes that we have enjoyed during our travels, and does not represent the cuisine of one specific country.
Life in the CERU kitchen is a kaleidoscope of colours, aromas and tastes. We only use the freshest produce sourced from London’s markets to create our Levantine menu of vibrant dishes for you and your guests to enjoy.
What goes in to the array of dishes on our menu? – nearly 100 ingredients with more than 20 spices, including some that may be new to you, as well as a generous handful of nuts, and – most important of all – the humble lemon, zested, sliced or juiced, a little yellow nugget of culinary sunshine that is the powerhouse behind our kitchen.
But reading about it is one thing ...now try it for yourself.
Sustainability commitment
We are proud to take a positive step forward in our commitment to working in a more sustainable way. Our new Cook at Home range has been designed with the environment in mind, using local suppliers, British produce and biodegradable and reusable packaging. Every step of the way, we are considering how we can further reduce CERU’s carbon footprint and bring sustainable innovation to our offering.
